James Frederick Brown (1945-2012):" Nobody gets out of this place without singin' the blues" American artist, James Frederick Brown was born in Chicago of African and Apache descent, He was a force in the 1980s New York art World. James started as an expressionist abstractionist and later shifted to expressionistic portraits and figurative/narrative painting. He works were embraced by major Musuem collections. He was commissioned to create many portraits that adorned the covers of Time Magazine Music featuring The Shane Statz Trio. Presented by Museum of Contemporary Arts in conjunction with Afrikadey!
