February 7- Visual Arts exhibition opening at MOCA (104, 800 Macleod Trail S.E. 6pm)

James Frederick Brown (1945-2012):" Nobody gets out of this place without singin' the blues" American artist, James Frederick Brown was born in Chicago of African and Apache descent, He was a force in the 1980s New York art World. James started as an expressionist abstractionist and later shifted to expressionistic portraits and figurative/narrative painting. He works were embraced by major Musuem collections. He was commissioned to create many portraits that adorned the covers of Time Magazine Music featuring The Shane Statz Trio. Presented by Museum of Contemporary Arts in conjunction with Afrikadey!

February 9- Creative Youth Showcase Audition at Jubilee Auditorium (Lowe Lobby) 1415 14thAvenue N.W.

Talen hunt for youth between 10-20 years in Music, Dance, Singing, Rap/Hip Hop, Poetry, Visual and Performing Arts, Fashion etc. 12 pm. Presented in partnership with Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society.

February 12, 7pm- Networking Session at Afrikadey! (office 1B, 1640-16 Avenue N.W. )An opportunity to chat, mingle and create productive relationship across cultural divide. Food, Beverages and entertainment are provided but bring your business cards. Presented in partnership with Raine Energy Calgary.

February 15, 7 pm-What is Black History Presentation at Central Public Library (700 Macleod Trail S.E.)

An exploration of black culture through multi-disciplinary artistic expressions. Featuring Theatre A Go-Go, Mojo Williams, Guitarist/History; Henrietta Falasinnu,poet; Clement Fogue, Drum and Dance; Bash Sylla , Percussionist; Presented in partnership with Calgary Public Library

February 17, 2 pm- Africans On Ice at Olympic Plaza

Skating Party for new immigrants and their friends with DJ music. Free Skates and hot chocolate available for your pleasure. Supported by The City of Calgary, Parks and Recreation

February 23, 2pm - Creative Youth Showcase at National Music Centre (134-11 Avenue S.E.)

Selection of top three artists who will perform at Afrikadey! festival. Co-presented by Immigrant Services of Calgary

February 28- Emmanuel Jal at Forest Lawn High School.

The story of a child soldier turned Hip Hop star and Peace activist

February 28, 7 pm- South kordofan Cultural Showcase at Intercultural Dialogue Institute (2937 19 Street N.E.)

Sudanese people from South Kordofan in Calgary will present their arts and culture. Co-presented by ALTAMAS for Peace and Development Association & Intercultural Dialogue Institute.
