Mandarin Conversation Classes

 CMC is pleased to announce Mandarin conversation classes starting on May 26 to July 28. The class will be every Monday night from 5:30 to 6:30, at the Calgary Multicultural Centre. The cost is 25$, which includes a one year membership to the Centre. To register please call Robin Van Doren at 237-5850 

Catching the Cultural Wave

 The Calgary Multicultural Centre is pleased to announce that we are offering cultural presentations for junior high and high schools in Calgary to promote the benefits of cultural diversity and teach students the importance of cultural awareness.

The presentation will encourage students to appreciate other cultures as well as their own. Activities will promote awareness of mistaken assumptions and the consequences.

 Mayor proclaimed International Mother Language Day in Calgary

Dave Bronconnier, Mayor of Calgary, proclaimed International Mother Language Day on February 21, as an official celebration of Calgary. Initiated by the Calgary Multicultural Centre,  with partnership of Southern Alberta Heritage Language Association, Calgary Public Library-Diversity Services, University of Calgary - Language Research Centre and Canadian Commission for UNESCO, this symposium and celebration demonstrated that "Languages matter".

We are very proud to establish a tradition of recognizing multilingualism in our diverse city, developing awareness of our linguistic heritage and improving communications and interaction among Calgarians. (Read more...)
